Weekly Outlook: U.S. Inflation & ECB Rate Decision Take the Spotlight
US Dollar, EUR/USD, Gold & US Equities Analysis
Global financial markets entered the week with Monday trading under mixed sentiment following last Fridays robust U.S. August Non-Farm Payrolls (NFP) report.
While the blowout jobs data provided a solid cushion for the broader economic growth outlook, it simultaneously pushed Treasury yields higher as traders repriced Federal Reserve rate-hike expectations for the upcoming September meeting, complicating broader risk appetite.
U.S. Inflation Dual-Test & ECB Rate Decision Take Center Stage
With the labor market showing remarkable resilience, market focus this week turns strictly to inflation metrics and major central bank policy shifts ahead of next week's FOMC and other major central bank decisions.
Robust NFP Sparks Fed Hike Bets; Inflation Now the Pivot
U.S. August non-farm payrolls surged by +162,000, more than triple the consensus forecast of 53,000. Adding to the hawkish momentum, June and July payrolls were revised up by a combined 55,000, fully reversing July's previously reported weakness.
ECB Rate Decision & Middle East Pressure
The European Central Bank (ECB) rate decision stands as the premier central bank event of the week:
· Rate Hike Expectations: Markets are pricing in a 25-basis-point rate hike, driven by earlier hawkish policy stances, inflation remaining above target, and resurging energy price risks linked to Middle East tensions.
· Forward Guidance in Focus: Investors will closely scrutinize President Lagarde's forward guidance balancing Eurozone growth headwinds against sticky core inflation. Any hawkish pause or cautious shift will immediately impact EUR/USD and Euro crosses.
Looking ahead into this week, today's session is expected to be more quiet as U.S. markets are on holiday, with volatility building up heading into the latter half of the week.
Technical Analysis & Major Asset Outlook
US Dollar Index: 99.50 Resistance Holds Key to Bullish Extension
The U.S. Dollar Index stabilized into Monday's open, drawing underlying support from elevated Treasury yields and heightened September rate-hike probabilities post-NFP.

USD Index, H4 Chart
The greenback has mounted a modest recovery off lower structural support. However, the broader setup and short-term moving averages still show a bearish crossover while moving horizontally, suggesting ongoing consolidation.
Technically, key support lies at 99.00, while overhead resistance is established at the 99.50 zone. For the near term, the 99.00 – 99.20 region serves as a key pivot to determine direction, where a breakout could set a short-term trajectory leading into next week's FOMC.
EUR/USD: Testing 1.1570 Support Floor Ahead of ECB Policy Decision
EUR/USD remains pinned under short-term technical pressure as broad dollar strength and Eurozone growth concerns weigh on near-term price action, though hawkish ECB rate-hike bets continue to lend underlying support to the Euro.

EURUSD, H4 Chart
The pair tested key structural support around the 1.1570 handle earlier before rebounding back above 1.1600. The broader technical setup continues to favor the overarching uptrend structure.
Technically, holding above 1.1600 suggests underlying support for the pair to extend its broader uptrend.
Spot Gold: Range-Bound Between $4,400 Support Floor and $4,500 Resistance
Spot gold is consolidating within a broad technical corridor as traders weigh elevated Treasury yields against persistent geopolitical risk premiums in the Middle East.

XAUUSD, H4 Chart
Following a sharp pullback last week, gold managed to defend its primary demand floor at $4,400/oz after a brief pierce into the $4,300 region. Last week's NFP data pushed prices lower again, but buyers stepped in to hold $4,400.
Technically, gold has entered a bullish consolidation structure while holding $4,400, with overhead resistance firmly capping upside at $4,500/oz.

XAUUSD, Daily Chart
On the daily chart, the macro upside and bullish structure remain intact following the sharp pullback. Price action is currently undergoing a period of lower-timeframe consolidation. As long as near-term price holds above $4,400, the upside potential remains promising.
U.S. Equities (Nasdaq 100 & S&P 500): Testing Breakout Boundaries After Flat Weekly Close
U.S. equity benchmarks ended last week virtually flat, setting up a crucial technical breakout test as central bank policy decisions approach.

UT100, H4 Chart

US500, H4 Chart
Technical Setup: The Nasdaq 100 (UT100) continues to test the critical 29,000 psychological support floor, while the S&P 500 (US500) consolidates around its 7,700 pivot zone.
