VEO Invest was founded in 1995 by a Russian who, a year later, joined forces with other financial individuals to create Otkritie, a retail brokerage firm. In 2007, Otkritie Capital established an independent investment banking and brokerage division with offices in Moscow, London, and New York to provide advisory services to corporate and institutional clients. In 2014, all of the firm's investment banking and institutional businesses, including Otkritie Securities Limited (UK) and Otkritie Inc (US), changed their names to Otkritie Capital International, and in 2015 moved their headquarters to London. In February 2018, Otkritie Capital International Limited changed its name to Sova Capital Limited, which now holds an investment advisory license from the FCA in the UK, license number 225539.
